This is a White-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus licorum) which I photographed at the weekend.This species of bee is widespread throughout the UK, however populations are believed to be declining. It emerges early in the spring and can be seen feeding on flowers right
through to the autumn. It can be found in gardens, farmland, woodland
edges, hedgerows and heathland.
