Visit to Fradley junction.

This has been on the tree for about three weeks now, it is very unusual!

 Oyster fungus.
There was lots of ducks in the Canal and in the pool.
A friendly Robin.

On Saturday I visited Fradley Junction, which isn't far from Lichfield. There wasn't anybody else there except the people on the Barges but there was lots of wildlife about. There was some Mallards in the Canal and a few friendly Robins about. As I walked around the pool there were a few Squirrels, Great tits and Long-tailed tits in the trees above. When I have visited in the past and sat in the hide patiently I've seen Kingfishers. There is also a new bird table at the other side of the pool which attracts a lot of birds. If you live near Fradley Junction I recommend you go and visit.

Waxwings, finally!

                                                                     Waxwing!
                                                               A pair of Waxwings.

Finally! After two weeks of searching for Waxwings, on Sunday afternoon somebody had reported them by the Royal Mail sorting office on Cappers Lane in Lichfield. When I visited there the first time there was nothing in sight but a couple of other people looking for them. I then returned about an hour later and saw somebody looking at one in a tree. Then after two minutes a flock came and landed in the next tree. The flock was made up of about 30 Waxwings, here are my three photographs of some but they are not very good due to weather conditions. Yesterday I heard that there were about 60 of them outside Tippers and they've been there everyday this week. If you are local, why not go and have a look at these beautiful birds!

Waxwing project.

This is a picture of some Waxwings I saw last year. I haven't seen any so far this year but I'm on the look out for some and I've been checking different blogs and twitter to see where they are near by. Waxwings are such beautiful birds and one of my favourite and this time of the year is brilliant for these birds. However, I have set myself a project which will probably only last a few months until about Febuary- March time when they migrate back. It should be very exciting traveling to different places admiring their behavour and photographing their activity. I'm looking forward to it!
